Now that I finally have internet–time to give y’all the info on WANEE 2013!! It was an AMAZING weekend filled with epic shows and some stellar people!
So back to Friday, April 19th, the 2nd official day of Wanee, and the first day of the Peach stage!! I started my day with some 9am yoga in front of the Peach stage (main stage) and set up a blanket and some chairs to have a home base for the day. Wanee is very different than other festivals–people literally have chairs up to the very front of the stage. Its a much more relaxing and laid back feel. I like to call it more of an “old man” festival, because its set up so you can be very lazy, which is pretty awesome!!!
The first show I saw for the day was Blackberry Smoke and they absolutely killed it! I had never seen them or heard them before, but they are definitely a band to look out for! They were the perfect way to start out the day!
After a quick walk to the mushroom stage, Les Claypool’s Duo De Twang brought some awesome weirdness as always and blessed us with a surprise visit from Warren Haynes!! The trio dominated the stage before Warren had to run off to play with Gov’t Mule on the Peach stage!!!
To make the day even more epic, Gov’t Mule was joined by Widespread Panic members JB, Jimmy Herring, and Dave Schools!!
What do you think? Widespread Mule? Or Gov’t Panic?!
